Three gifts that my dad and spouse would love to receive for fathers day. Three classy gifts for two classy guys. I have to say that my spouse owns two of these: the Brooks brothers pajamas and the Bose headset. He loves both of them and was extremely excited to receive them. Dad-gifts Bose noise canceling headphones: These are a great gift for a man who enjoys watching movies or hearing music. They are also great for noise canceling which can be handy for air travel or work.

Brooks Brothers pajamas: People usually don’t like to overspend on sleepwear. This gives you a great opportunity to buy them a high-end pajamas such as this one. It is comfy, wrinkle free and will make your dad feel like Don Draper.

Rock glass and ice ball: This is a cute gadget for the whiskey lovers. The design is made to chill the drink without watering it. Some of the reviewers were disappointed in the glass quality, However, I think the ice ball is cool enough.

Who said shopping for men is difficult?

It’s been such a hectic month!!! I really neglected my blogging duties, but I have a great excuse. Two months ago, I started my own business as an interior designer.  I’s been a wild ride so far, I guess I won’t be able to blog as much as I used to for a little while. But stick around, I promise, I will keep writing about great gift idea’s that will really inspire you. Speaking of inspiration; The previous post I wrote inspired me to write about gifts for princesses. I can’t believe I never thought of this before.

Here are my favorite gifts fit for a princess:

1. Your precious little girl will love to make-believe with these printable Princess masks by BessiePooh.

2. A true princess remains a princess from the minute she wakes up in the morning until… Well, until forever. Just because the sun is down doesn’t mean that the crown should come off. I absolutely adore these Princess Bedding by Snurk.

3. Make your little princess feel like one from the moment she starts her day. With Disney’s princess waffle maker , every breakfast is fit for a princess.

4. This gift is fit for a real princess, and a real princess received it. Baby Ivy Blue is the princess of RNB. For her first birthday she received a gorgeous diamond embedded  Barbie doll.

5. Being a princess isn’t as easy as it seems. Matilda  can tell you all about it, since she comes from the palace where she serves the queen. She writes all the secrets about the palace in her diary. A great gift for a new princess who wants to know all about life in the palace.

6. A princess, whether real or make-believe, needs a palace where she can play and read. I especially love this Princess tent that would serve a young princess for many years of fun and games.

Between you and me, if you feel like a princess, you are a princess. Just remember to wear your invisible crown.

I always thought that men are impossible to buy for, but lately I find that there are more and more cool gifts out there for the fine gentleman.

Here is a roundup of some of my favorites gifts for men:

1. Not sure what to get? Money is always a good gift, but you really want to see your money put into something rather than spent on everyday groceries. The bomb shaped Money box designed by Yegor Zhgun, is a way to give someone a head start to something they want. All your recipient has to do is write down the purpose of the savings and drop the bomb once the bank is full.

2. A custom made Inspector stamp is a great little gift for the man who wants to leave a mark in this world.

3. A great gift for the guy with a desk is a Memo Globe. He’ll never have to look for a piece of paper again.

4. The Key Bottle Opener is a necessary item for any guy who like to have a cold beer with his friends on a regular basis.

5. I find that mugs are a great gift. I always like to fill them up with some candy, I think it adds a nice touch. If your man is crazy about Mad Men, this Mad Men Mug  would be perfect for him.

7. Just because I like it - Elephant Box.

6. My guy keeps looking at different bags. First he needed one for his laptop, but now he wants one for his I-Pad. I think he’d like this Messenger bag , right Hon?

8. It’s weird how all our photos are digital, I almost never print them out anymore. For the guy who loves to take photo’s a Polaroid camera.

The holidays are coming and gift idea’s and advise are becoming a real necessity. As a new mother I think I became more critical of children toys. I find myself asking what is the educational value of the toys I receive and as a designer I really want a toy to develop my child’s creativity skills. My boy is far too young to enjoy any of these toys, but here are my top 5 choices for the creative soul.

1. When my boy grows older my husband and I really want him to be the kid wearing a cape. Whenever we see a child with a cape we imagine are baby boy growing to be a creative little boy with superpowers (He already has a secret power, he melts other peoples hearts). I hope he inherits my creativity, and if he does, this DIY Superhero cape will be on his gift list. I love this gift not only because it would inspire your little one to get creative, but also since after the DIY activity is over, this cape will be perfect for dress up games, keeping that imagination running.

2. My not so secret dream is to learn how to sew. I know that one day I would learn how to do it, but until then I will sulk for not starting at a young age. If you have a creative little girl who dreams of becoming a fashion designer, get her a sewing machine. I really know nothing about sewing machines so I looked at a sewing forum, where everyone recommended buying a real machine. I did find a recommendation for this cute Hello kitty machine at the following blog: Sew Store-Bought .

3. I can’t begin to explain how much I love this Any-mal Set by Notoys.  The set contains one table/bench and two stools that are painted in chalkboard. Your child can build a castle, a train tunnel, a cat face, a pirate ship or any other image of his hearts desire. All S/he has to do is draw and play. My kid will have this set even if I have to build my own.

4. When I was a girl I collected Barbie dolls I even had a Barbie  Ferrari, but I never had a Barbie doll house, and I always dreamed of a home for my barbies. I don’t know if this home I found at Etsy can fit 12 Barbies, but it would be a lot of fun to assemble and decorate. I love the idea of a blank house that you can design by yourself, this is probably the reason I became an interior designer.

5. You should understand by now that I approve of spatial toys that create a creative environment and enhances imagination. When I was little we used to build playhouses on trees and play make-believe  but today there are endless possibilities for creating such environments. This cardboard construction set is yet another example for a toy that requires assembly skills and would keep your child occupied with his or hers imagination.

I would like to note that even though some toys seem like they are for boys and others are more likely to fit girls, I would most definitely consider a girl super-heroine or a boy fashion designer. I was always playing with the boys and grew up to be a girly girl adult with some boyish skills. So break the gender patterns and give those kids something to think about…

I’ve been wanting to start an animal category for some time now… I sort of did an animal bit on Shark Week, and I did do a Fantastic Mr Fox article… But I think I want to start a regular  theme such as color code, dedicated to all you animal lovers. I know I already had a fox article, but I know that there are lots of fox lovers out there in desperate need of a foxy gift. OK OK you got me… I’m the fox freak! But I’m also obsessed with deer so that just might be my next animal article. I searched the web and gathered my top ten foxy gifts. In case you were wondering, 9 and 10 are my personal favorites, what can I say? I’m a girl, I love shoes…

After we established that the gift recipient loves foxes… all that is left is to match the gift to the occasion…

1.  A lovely home decor piece such as this Artwork Plate with a vintage fox illustration, is great as a house warming gift.

2. Did someone get a new job? This cute little Tail Me More Mug is a sweet conversational piece and therefore is great for the office…

3. When thinking of a house warming gift we tend to neglect the outside…Be original with this little Garden Figurine will make a great addition between some garden gnomes.

4. Have a house warming and you want something for the kids room? A lovely Fox Pillow  will work for both genders…

5.Need a stylish gift for a stylish gal? Fox Earrings,For the eternal Fashionista.

6. I love this Fox T for a foxy little boy. It’s a lovely design, I wish it would come in Medium for my man… Then he and my little one can match T’s…

7. A Fox Blouse to go with the lovely Earrings at No 5.

8. Fox iPhone Case for any occasion.

And last but not least…For me… No 9. & No 10. Fox Boots Fox Ballet Flats, Size 6.5 please…

Three more days to Father’s Day!!!  I Know you already have a printed card… but do you have a gift yet? I’ve rounded up some gifts for guys, for all of you, last minute gift people (like me). Mind you, some of these gifts work as a graduation gift as well.

  1.  Paper inspired socks by Ashi Dashi, for the dad who just graduated.
  2. Find this slingshot pencil at the curiosityshoppe. It’s a great gift for the mischievous dad who is always looking for adventures.
  3. My favorite choice for the newbie dad (who is also the sentimental type), a key chain with your baby’s footprint by Metamorphosis Design Studio.
  4. For the trendy dad, this hot Fred Perry satchel bag. Oh, sometimes I do wish I were a man…
  5. The gentlemen dad would dig these classic Brooks Brothers cuff-links… Make sure your dad has the shirt for it, or add it to the package.
  6. For the casual dad, these hand sewn Florsheim moccasins will envelope his feet with a lot of love. I think they work as slippers as well don’t you?
  7. Your father has allergies? Better get him these stylish handkerchiefs by Izola. I know the father of my kid needs one or two of those…
  8. I feel like this watch needs a post of it’s own! Pebble is a smart-watch. It’s infinitely customization, with beautiful downloadable watchfaces and useful internet-connected apps. It connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth and therefore you can listen to music and cycle with it… Great for the high-tech sporty dad! Be sure to visit Kickstarter and watch the video.
  9. I cannot count the amount of technology that my other half has… An iPad, a tablet, iPhone and Kindle. ON second thought, this gift might be for your mother… A beautifully designed iPhone and iPad stand by Kinodai to hold dad’s stuff.
  10. Instagram fever caught many dads… If your father is hooked on Instagram, imagine how happy he would be, spreading stickers of his photos all around. Printstagram will send you two sticker books for only 10 $!!! Happy sticking!
Which works best for your dad?

Mother’s day is coming up and this year it has a whole new meaning for me since it’s my first as a mother. I always knew that mothers are a special breed but these first nine weeks as a mother made me appreciate my own mother in a different light. The thought of having to care for someone else for the rest of my life is very stressful and I don’t think that feeling will ever go away.

I would like to take a moment to say a few words about my own mother since she really is a special person. I really don’t know how she manages to do it: She works late hours and still finds the time to manage a household, take care of her elderly mother, her kids and help with her grandchildren. Whenever I need her she is there, and she always knows how to sort problems out. She is a true source of inspiration.

What are you waiting for then? It’s time to start thinking about a thoughtful present for your mother so you’re not rushing last minute.

Here are some idea’s to get you started…

  1. For the Soccer mom: She won’t miss a game with this Halftone Calender and by next mother’s day, she’ll fill in all the dots and complete the image. Make it extra special by using a photo of your face (unfortunately, it only works with a close up picture).
  2. For the mom who has it all a Gratitude necklace, for obvious reasons.
  3. For the mom who loves to cook a Measuring spoon set , so she can add those secret ingredients to any dish.
  4. This one is for any mom, Inspirational flip flops cause we all need a little vacation.
  5. For the sentimental mom: Personalized family tree.
  6. For the hip mom, Personalized paper dolls, these are just super cute, I would love to have these on my front door.
Now, as much as I love my mother, I don’t think she would enjoy any of these gifts, she is the old fashioned mom, for her a big flower bouquet or pictures of her grandson are the best way to go. Sometimes simple is better. And although it doesn’t sound like much, I’m sure that all your mothers would most appreciate some help around the house. I know I would…

Happy earth day everyone!

As you already know, I believe that giving can be demonstrated in various ways: You can give presents, give by donation or simply give a hand to a friend. The same goes for giving back to the environment. Of course, you don’t have to wait for earth day in order to help the environment; you can do it by recycling, upcycling and by saving energy. And as for gifts, here are some nice earth friendly gifts that are sure to brighten up someone’s day while helping the world staying green. Personally, I would love to get the”Where the Wild Things Are” globe, it totally goes into my wish list! Just in case any of you were wondering…

  1. Help mother earth by using this cute “Angry little girls”  tote by Lela Lee. You will spread the recycling idea, while reducing the use of plastic bags.
  2. Wearing these bright plant jewelry by HAF will serve as a constant reminder to water your plants… Keeping it green!
  3. At first I really liked the design of the package, but once I read a little more about these mints I found out that Project 7 make everyday products that give back to the globe. Save the earth, house the homeless or feed the hungry, in any case these sugar free mints will benefit the planet while keeping your breath fresh.
  4. Upcycling is really hot right now. There is something magical about taking something old and giving it a new life. This “Where The Wild Things Are” Globe is very dear to me since it was always my favorite by Maurice Sendak.
  5. We Share The Earth is an art print for tree huggers, budding environmentalists, and anyone who wouldn’t mind an earth friendly reminder.

I can’t believe that almost a year passed since I started this blog. I am bringing this up since I remember that when I uploaded the blog on March 6th, I had a Valentine’s Day idea in my mind and I knew that I would have to wait for almost a full year before I can post it. Back then I didn’t even know if I would be able to keep a blog at all… I wasn’t sure that I would be able to persist, writing every week seemed like a huge task I wasn’t sure I would be able to pursue. However, almost a year later, I am proud to say that I was able to keep this blog alive, long enough to supply my readers with this next gift idea. I hope that you agree that it was worth the wait…

1.2.3. 4.5.6.

“Surely you know what a kiss is?” she asked, aghast.

“I shall know when you give it to me,” he replied stiffly, and not to hurt his feeling she gave him a thimble.

“Now,” said he, “shall I give you a kiss?” and she replied with a slight primness, “If you please.” She made herself rather cheap by inclining her face toward him, but he merely dropped an acorn button into her hand, so she slowly returned her face to where it had been before, and said nicely that she would wear his kiss on the chain around her neck. It was lucky that she did put it on that chain, for it was afterwards to save her life.

– J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

I’ve always been captivated by the story of Peter Pan for many different reasons, the adventures, the romance and the notion of not having to grow up. I was especially fascinated by the idea of the kiss as a small token that holds a great power. Surly the concept of the kiss as a powerful thing exists in many fairytales such as “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Snow White” and “Beauty and the Beast”, but in these tales, the kiss exists in its original manor whilst in Peter Pan the kiss wears the physical form of an acorn or a thimble. This turns every little acorn and thimble into precious kiss that may be given to your loved one, and in contrast to a real kiss, this one stays with you at all times.

Valentines Day is about three weeks away and it is time to start planing your Valentines gifts, especially if you want to order something online. It’s been a while since I wrote a top 5 on Etsy piece and what a great opportunity this is to share some of my Etsy choices with you. I love browsing Etsy and finding all sorts of stuff there… it’s the perfect place to browse for gifts since many of the vendors offer personalized gift options.

1. “I pick you” Guitar pick  2. Red heart locket necklace  3. Human heart print  4.  3d hearts with song lyrics  5.  Candy hearts

Here are my top 5 choices:

  1. I used to date a musician and I think that this “I pick you” Guitar pick is a great gift if your other half plays the guitar… It’s a cute way to express your love with regards to your spouse’s occupation.
  2. A more romantic choice for your special lady. There is something so warm and nostalgic about lockets, whenever I open one, it’s like opening a secret. That’s why I find that receiving an empty locket is somewhat disappointing. This lovely locket with the heart embroidery is just the sort of surprising secret most lockets lack. Add a personal love note folded inside the locket and it would enhance the surprise element and give another boost to your gift.
  3. This one is for those of you who don’t really like celebrating Valentines. A crowed that usually divides in two: the pure romantics who don’t need Valentine’s Day as a reminder and the non-romantics who don’t celebrate Hallmarks. For the latter I recommend this beautiful heart print, it’s a more realist way of being romantic with a dash of humor. Works as a great gift for cardiologists as well…
  4. Here is an example for a romantic personalized gift. A heart shaped cutout of your first song with your initials and special date. I always encourage people to DIY, however, if you are not crafty you can purchase a beautifully custom made framed song on Etsy.
  5. Heart candy always works for me! They are very nostalgic since when I was little my mom used to decorate birthday cakes with them…
